How to enjoy your vacation away from a busy work schedule!

Are you afraid to take time off because of all you will be bombarded with when you return? Do you have no other option but to work while on “vacation”? I completely understand that you have a workload that feels impossible to escape, but you need to… for you. It’s all a matter of preparation, prioritization, delegation, and last but not least, relaxation.

When prepping for a vacation, be sure to prioritize the critical tasks and complete those firsthand. As more things pop up, be sure to inform and prepare others of your time off. It is critical to clear the items off your to-do list and not add more to it. This would be the best time to delegate who will complete what while you are away. While you can’t expect to come back with zero items on your to-do list, you can still help to ensure the world keeps spinning while you are away. Most importantly, you need to truly relax and turn your notifications off. There is nothing worse than when you receive a frustrating email while away from work or in a stress free state of mind. If people really need to get a hold of you, they can give you a call but let them find you. I would not sift through your email notifications while trying to unplug. Now, it is finally time to sit back and recover from work stress… trust me, you are worthy of a break.

I know it is easier said than done. I know it is hard to step away when you are deep in the work grind. I also know that stepping away and taking care of you will make you the best version of yourself. Please invest in yourself and learn to say no. When it comes down to it, you are your best advocate and you deserve a break.
